Beads, Stones, and Other Treasure

These lovely tansu (Japanese chests) were made by a modern-day craftsman in Hokkaido, and they're the perfect place to keep thousands of tiny treasures that find their way into my cards and artwork. The drawers hold paper-covered reeds, tiny bits of bamboo, silky smooth beach stones, beads of horn, wood, and bone, and others of turquoise, coral, amber, and jade.

These things are addictive to collect and a great pleasure to use!
